Overland Park Clean Stream Day
Sponsored by the Watershed Institute
Overland Park Clean
Stream Day enlists the
manpower of over 600
volunteers to assist in the
clean up of the local urban
streams.  Below, Watershed
Institute Executive Director
and Environmental Attorney
Frank Austenfeld takes time
to discuss the effects of
residential and commercial
development on urban
streams.  Education and
public outreach on the
benefits of and
opportunities for restoration
on private land as well as
public land is an important
function of the Watershed
Institute. Working with the
city of Overland Park to
perhaps restore the section
of Tomahawk Creek
pictured below, Austenfeld
hopes it will happen
someday.
